Fort Steven's Beach Camping Trip

We have the tradition of spending time during the summer with Dan's Parents, and his brothers with their families. Most times it involves camping and every now and again we spend it at a beach house. I can remember one year being 8 months pregnant and still camping for the week. What can I say...we love it!

Our campsite of choice is at Fort Steven's. Dan's family has been going there for 20+ years. It is a beautiful park and very popular. So popular that you have to reserve your spot 9 months in advance. It also has a special place in my heart since it is the place that Dan proposed.

This year the weather was great! We had lots of fun touring the different forts and military bases, playing in the sand at the beach, and swimming in the lake. We took our bikes with us this year and enjoyed riding the trails from our campsite to Battery Russel, the beach and back. It was great!

I didn't take nearly as many pictures as I did last year, but I think that was due to the fact that we were too busy having fun. Here are some of my favorites....
Even Grandpa Glenn rode in the back of the pick-up with all the grand kids.

Most of the grand-kids went with Grandma and aunt Michelle on a military truck tour while Dan, Uncle Ryan, Kaleb, and I went on the underground tour at Battery Mishler.
We love the beach! It is always the highlight of the trip.

Each family was assigned a certain meal or dessert during the trip. We made dutch oven pizza. *Note to self: oil the foil more next time. We also made dutch oven biscuits and gravy for breakfast one morning. Yum yum! Why does food taste so much better when you're camping?

We also celebrated Kiera's 4th b-day while we were there. This is a picture of her and her very own Umbrella! She is so excited for when it starts raining again. I just hope we can put that off for a little longer.

No trip to the beach is complete without a trip to Seaside and the Carousel Mall. Oh, and don't forget the Sea-foam chocolates and taffy from the Candy Man!

The weather was wonderful! One day was spent at the Lake. The water was cold but that didn't stop the kids from having fun in it.

The last Evening there Grandma and Grandpa watched the kids while Dan and I went for an evening walk on the beach to watch the sunset. It was beautiful! Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for making the trip possible. We look forward to the time together next summer! The last shot is a pic of the shipwreck that sits on the beach.

Last 4th of July Post

Last post of the 4th! So glad to be caught up. Well...not exactly. I have a post in mind of two projects that have been happening around the Glenn home. But we'll get to those soon enough.

It was a lot of fun to visit my family and celebrate the 4th of July. So how could you not celebrate without the parades? You just can't. And I just love the small town parade that happens at my mom's.

And what small town parade is complete without the "Wet Zone" put on by the fire department?

And everyone knows the best part of the 4th is the fireworks!
And our family started the tradition a little while ago to make popcorn for the fire show.
We forgot the bowl so we improvised with a torn paper sack.
Doesn't get any better than this!
Hey I at least tried getting a cute couple shot...hmmm
Until next year...
